Legato Performance Exhausts
Received the kit in great condition with the flange connecting bolts being 1-1/2" in length, not 2-1/2" as described. While awaiting the kit's arrival. I asked about leaving the stock resonator in place and was told it should stay in place but since it was in a 2-1/2" pipe, I opted to eliminate it and just go with the new 3" piping. Wife said she really liked the sound but she didn't ride in it on the freeway where the interior droning was too much. Had the exhaust installer cut in a resonator this morning and life is good again! Would recommend this kit to anyone looking for a very well designed system.
Received the kit in good condition. Everything seemed to be very well made. Upon installation, I discovered that the bolts provided to attach the slip flange to the existing pipe were far too short. The factory bolts are at least 3 inches long versus the supplied 1 1/2" long bolts. Of course, I had to make a trip to the hardware store to find metric nuts to fit the factory bolts so that delayed the installation. I am alao having a problem with one of the clamps not tightening sufficiently which allows the tip to spin and drop down with little effort. I have tightened this clamp with far more torque that the rest of the clamps but it will still slip. Any ideas? Other than these two issues, the kit is awesome. The sound is slightly aggressive but tolerable, just he way I like it! I would recommend this cat-back system to anyone but beware that you may need to source your own bolts and possibly replace a weak clamp.
Quiet if I wanted to be. loud if I want it to be sounds great. Wish I found you before I spent a lot of money on flowmaster. Drove the car 2 miles & could not stand the drone. They will not take it back. Last flowmaster I will ever buy.
I realized that at age 70, I would be having my new purchase installed at a local "Exhaust" business. Found one about three miles from home. I watched him as he went about his work. Took him about 45 minutes, tops. He did have the advantage of having the Jeep on a lift. I like the tone of this new mod. He told me that the Legatto system looked to him to be a quality build. It looks good, with the two chrome end peeking from the rear bumper.
was super easy to install by myself. i just backed up my car ramps and got to work. the hardest part was getting the 12 year old exhaust off of my car. the new system lined up perfect and everything slipped right on. absolutely no fitment was required. sounds really good and the horsepower increase was noticeable as soon as i took a test drive.
Fantastic exhaust with an amazing sound. Go the extra mile and get yourself a cold air intake, which will make the exhaust come to live even more!
Minus:
- After 2 years, the black paint on the resonator has all come off (bummer), but nobody can see it anyway, so I am not overly concerned.
- Hangers didn't fit properly. Reading the other reviews I can't believe Legato still hasn't fixed this problem after so many years!
Installed Legato axelback in my 2017 SS Camaro. Looks great and sounds better!
Broke an exhaust clamp during install.
Called Legato customer service and they promptly sent out new ones.
Couldn’t be happier and customer service was impeccable!
Thanks Legato!
installation was a snap 3.25 hours in my drive way, the only draw back is the amount of torque it takes to tighten the band clamps but the sound makes up for it.
I love my Legato exhaust.
Bought this system a little over a year ago and installed it on my 2016 Mustang GT. Fantastic sound....constantly getting comments from other members of the two clubs I belong to. They all have the high end/cost systems and I really believe mine sounds and performs better. I drive the heck out of my car (20K) since installation. I occasionally polish the tips and it looks like the day I installed it. Would highly recommend this system to anyone looking for a nice, not obnoxious sound from there GT.
At a low idle I get a drowning noise that’s annoying. I have the resonator installed and the catalytic converter isn’t hollowed out so not entirely sure why it does this. Hopefully you can point me in the direction of a fix. Other than that great sound on start up, idle and when getting on it “I love the sound”. Fast delivery, quick install as well. For my stock exhaust removal I didn’t have to cut it in anyway and I didn’t the removal and install myself. Thank you again.
The axle back exhaust was exactly the tone I wanted and sounds amazing compared with the factory. The tone is not too loud and has a nice deep resonance that allows you to appreciate the full power of the LS3 motor.
The quality is pretty solid. Install was simple and everything lined right up! I did not have to adjust or bend any hangers. The sound is extremely unique. It sounds deep and mean at lower rpms and on decel. At high rpm's it SCREAMS. I have an h pipe paired with the system. I will be putting a resonated x pipe on to quiet it down a bit. Its fine for daily driving with the H pipe but for autocross it will definitely be too loud for the facility i run at. Great job legato!!! Solid product for a great price. I will definitely take some videos with the h pipe and with the resonated x pipe when i get it.
hello good day as I said in the previous message was not what I expected because it does not grab any noise is the same as the one I was raising earring answer from you but do not answer tell me that I can be to solve this thank you and I hope your answer
Sounds great with not too much drone. The RPMs have to be steady and at the wrong speed to drone. Very narrow band. Go a tad faster or slow a bit or just shift up or down. It is not too loud or too quiet. It is perfect. Tighten the clamps tight! Start car, warm up and then re tighten again. I didn't and they moved on me. I re tightened and put a small tack weld on each section just to make sure. Stock tips went right on no problem. I used a socket and extension and hammer to start the star washers on the hangars. Tap them lightly or they will break. Very nice product and high quality.
Great package overall. I had 2 issues, however.
Firstly, the packaging for each individual part are all labeled LEX4211 no derivation for the 4211-1, 4211-2 and so on. This made the installation about 15 minutes longer with me struggling to piece together all the tubes on the ground. Maybe for a more experienced mechanic this would have been no issue. Regardless, my suggestion to Legato is to label all parts properly.
Secondly, the bolts included for the flange on the inlet tube are not long enough. This, also, may not be an issue for some trucks. But, in my 2010 F-150 Triton 5.4L the bolts from Legato weren't even close. The included parts list described them as 3/8" x 2 1/2". They may have been 1 1/14" in length. I had to use the bolts from the stock exhaust and scrounge up some nuts that fit because the stock inlet tube has nut plates attached to the flange. Again, this added about 30 minutes to an otherwise easy job.
Overall, the installation was fairly easy if you simply know how to turn a wrench and have an extra hand. Took me 2-3 hours with the minor hiccups. The sound is great and not too loud but gives a good aggressive feel to the V8. More like a 3.5 out of 5.
Had them installed at local muffler shop for $75.
Paired this exhaust with a magnaflow resonated x pipe and the tone is deeeep. No rasp at all, and the exhaust sounds deep and menacing. Love these mufflers.
to be perfectly honest I was looking for a cost effective set of axle backs, these came up in my search. I did some sound checks on the website and on youtube and decided to pull the trigger. Shipping was pretty quick, think it took like 4 or 5 days from California to Illinois which is about normal. First impression was that they were packed up real nice, and the plugs kept the pipes from getting damaged. Took them to my muffler shop and as I unwrapped the driver side muffler I noticed a slight knick in the tip. Not the end of the world but as anal as I am I noticed it right away. Took my guy all of 20 minutes to have these things on and ready to fire up. First start was amazing, sounds like an old school muscle car and I'm loving it. Drone is TERRIBLE, now granted I'm catless but holy cow it's pretty bad. If you can keep you R's above 2K you'll be fine. Bottom line is they did exactly what I wanted and that was to tame my exhaust a bit, just didn't expect the drone to be as bad as it is.
How a V8 Camaro should sound from the factory. Not too loud to annoy neighbors, just the right growl when I get on it. Turns heads without being obnoxious.
I like the kit. I just didn't like the way it exited the rear so I have to get different sections made but overall a good kit
Looked for a Cat back / dual exhaust system to fit on my 2010 Dodge Challenger SE - yes V6 and this Legato system fit the bill at a great price and quality. No modifications to stock pipes or mounts just adapters to go from 2 1/4" pipes to 2 1/2" pipes. And by no fault of Legato the only issue was having to add a heat shield on the driver side muffler (since next to gas tank) because Dodge didn't think anybody would put dual exhaust on their SE car otherwise all bolt on with no modifications to Legato kit. Went from quiet sound to mean even head turning. So yeah I could have said kit was installed on V8 but showing this quality and affordable SS system is an option for V6 owners so maybe Legato would honor their lifetime warranty if I even needed it. Recommend Legato system for Dodge Challenger owners.
Two words DEEP & POWERFUL
Best systems for the money and life time warranty
Sounds great looks great easy to install
