Awesome sound. Quality materials!! Ease if install.
Received the kit in great condition with the flange connecting bolts being 1-1/2" in length, not 2-1/2" as described. While awaiting the kit's arrival. I asked about leaving the stock resonator in place and was told it should stay in place but since it was in a 2-1/2" pipe, I opted to eliminate it and just go with the new 3" piping. Wife said she really liked the sound but she didn't ride in it on the freeway where the interior droning was too much. Had the exhaust installer cut in a resonator this morning and life is good again! Would recommend this kit to anyone looking for a very well designed system.
Received the kit in good condition. Everything seemed to be very well made. Upon installation, I discovered that the bolts provided to attach the slip flange to the existing pipe were far too short. The factory bolts are at least 3 inches long versus the supplied 1 1/2" long bolts. Of course, I had to make a trip to the hardware store to find metric nuts to fit the factory bolts so that delayed the installation. I am alao having a problem with one of the clamps not tightening sufficiently which allows the tip to spin and drop down with little effort. I have tightened this clamp with far more torque that the rest of the clamps but it will still slip. Any ideas? Other than these two issues, the kit is awesome. The sound is slightly aggressive but tolerable, just he way I like it! I would recommend this cat-back system to anyone but beware that you may need to source your own bolts and possibly replace a weak clamp.
I love my Legato exhaust.
Great package overall. I had 2 issues, however.
Firstly, the packaging for each individual part are all labeled LEX4211 no derivation for the 4211-1, 4211-2 and so on. This made the installation about 15 minutes longer with me struggling to piece together all the tubes on the ground. Maybe for a more experienced mechanic this would have been no issue. Regardless, my suggestion to Legato is to label all parts properly.
Secondly, the bolts included for the flange on the inlet tube are not long enough. This, also, may not be an issue for some trucks. But, in my 2010 F-150 Triton 5.4L the bolts from Legato weren't even close. The included parts list described them as 3/8" x 2 1/2". They may have been 1 1/14" in length. I had to use the bolts from the stock exhaust and scrounge up some nuts that fit because the stock inlet tube has nut plates attached to the flange. Again, this added about 30 minutes to an otherwise easy job.
Overall, the installation was fairly easy if you simply know how to turn a wrench and have an extra hand. Took me 2-3 hours with the minor hiccups. The sound is great and not too loud but gives a good aggressive feel to the V8. More like a 3.5 out of 5.
Exhaust fit super nice sounds good also.. just one complaint the flange bolts was way to short.. I sent an time finding bolts at the house that would work til I got out to get the right bolts foe the job.. that is why I have a 3 I was pissed at the time but now it's done and it is a nice exhaust..
This review is an update from an earlier post. The exhaust does drone at highway speeds and has already started to rust after six months. Disappointing considering that I live in the desert where we have no snow, road salt, or rain. the clamps are terrible so I had to have it welded up underneath after it fell off from the clamps...
With the exception of having to deal with UPS, this was a great experience. Within minutes of my purchase I was given an order confirmation and tracking #... the shipment arrived a day late and pretty beat up from UPS. The UPS driver decided he did not want to deliver the 75-lb. box and decided to bring it back to UPS for a bad address even though the correct address was on the package. It arrived pretty beaten up you could tell that it was handled very roughly. See picture below. When I saw the packaging, I called Legato's customer service and I formed them of the issue with UPS. They told me to call UPS and have them pick it back up even without opening it and they would send a new one out right away. I decided to go ahead and open it up and check everything out. It all looked good so I went ahead and kept it.
Removing the old exhaust was a piece of cake, and the install was pretty straight forward. I believe the instructions could have been a little better. I had started using my cordless impact driver and it did not have enough torque, so I busted out the pneumatic impact wrench. That did the job. After a few rounds of adjustments, the exhaust looked great. I was very impressed with the sound when I started it, and after revving the engine and driving it I liked it even more.
Great customer service and a well built, great sounding exhaust!

2009-'14 Ford F-150 V8 V6 Engine Legato Cat Back Exhaust Kit
I have had the exhaust on for a few weeks now and really like it. The system seems very well built and sounds great on my Coyote V8. Here is some info from my install on the LEX 4211. You WILL have to delete the factory resonator. I was under the assumption that this kit kept the factory resonator. I spoke with Legato on the fact that the factory resonator had to be deleted and they confirmed the exhaust was installed correctly. Without the resonator this exhaust is loud and will drone in the 1600-1800 rpm range. 20 years ago I would have left out the resonator without hesitation as this exhaust sounds bad ass. I wanted to tone it done a bit so I put in an aftermarket resonator. Wanted it to be wife and kid approved. The resonator did the trick, most of the drone is now gone along with the CIS (card in spokes) sound. Legato was on point in the communication department and were great to deal with. I had one issue that I think another reviewer of this exhaust also had. The driver side exhaust hanger (part# 4000-5) broke on the first day. I replaced it with an aftermarket polyurethane hanger. A polyurethane hanger has to be used as a standard rubber hanger will allow too much movement in the tail section of the driver’s side tail pipe. Another tip make sure the band clamps are clamped in a way that the band itself is over the z-line cutouts on the pipe being clamped and not the part of the clamp were the nut and bolt are. This resolved some very minor exhaust leaks that were caused by the clamps not being clamped down in the right spot on the pipe. Overall my experience with Legato was a good one. I think this is one of the better sounding exhaust kits at any price that I have heard to date on a F150 5.0.
I have not installed the dual exhaust yet since it is the middle of winter here in northeast. Inspected the exhaust is is of high quality bends and workmanship. I had a problem with a coupon code not coming off when ordering it online but emailed Legato and they said they would track it down and take care of it. With in a couple of days they had the order fixed. In my book any company who does that and that fast with no questions asked is #1 in my book. So for price and quality workmanship you can't beat Legato Performance!! Thanks Guys!
I'll write back when I get it installed. Pete
I had great service from the beginning. The catback I bought is for a 2013 F150 super crew. It was great quality and sounds amazing.
First off i want to say that the materials and workmanship of the exhaust is excellent. The sound is good; however i was hoping it would be a bit louder. I have to say that the instructions provided are not very good. They are hard to follow and its often difficult to tell what goes where. The instructions would benefit greatly from some images of an actual install. Second issue is with the band clamps. These tended to bind up and it was very difficult to get them tight enough to completely stop rotational movement on the rear section that routes around the spare tire. In fact I bottomed it out and the section will still move if i press down on the tip. I had to remove the band clamp and use a regular u-bolt style clamp to get it to stop drooping. Third issue is that the provided band clamps were of the wrong number for the back sections. I received a larger band clamp in error. This wasn't that big of an issue though considering the band clamp i took off the section routing around the spare and used a u-bolt. Fourth issue and this is more of a preference. The instructions stated that i needed to cut 6" off the secondary connection pipe to the muffler. I think i would have been ok and perhaps gotten more purchase with 5" . Again, this is simply my opinion, but the 6" cut resulted in barely enough length to get the pipes inserted past the compression cutouts.
Other than those issues the install went pretty well. Sound is good and the exhaust tips look awesome. Really solid product for the price. Very good value.

The install went nice and smooth with all parts fitting well. Sound is a deep smooth rumble but quite at idle with is awesome. On the highway this exhaust can become a bit loud at times. Also on the muffler the z notches that are made will create an exhaust leak and will need to be sealed up after installing. All and all great system
The install as promised was very easy. Following the instructions step by step will not give you any problems. As mentioned by another review the z notch on the inlet and 2 outlet positions of the muffler create a small exhaust leak no matter how hard you tighten the band clap.
The sound is very deep aggressive in cab but at idle you can not hear it. Highway speeds around 100km-110km I found the exhaust note to be really loud. Not too sure if this will go away as the exhaust breaks in. Very pleased with this system as the sound quality is as good even better then those real expensive systems for a fraction of the cost.
2009-'14 Ford F-150 (All wheelbases) w/4.6L, 5.0L, or 5.4L V8 Engine (2WD & 4WD) Cat Back Exhaust Kit
I love the exhaust, but I have a rattle that I cannot figure it out. I have checked everything.
I am super pleased with this system, the install was painless, in fact I spent more time measuring/adjusting to make sure everything looked exactly the same on both sides, prior to tightening all the fasteners, then I did installing everything...lol
I only had 2 minor inconveniences, after the install was complete, I had a small exhaust leak at the inlet and both outlets of the muffler. Legato cuts like a Z line at all these spots & the cut is too deep for the pipes or band clamps to cover, so I had to tack weld all 3 spots. Then the included hanger broke after only 2 days, so I had to go get a normal heavy rubber one. Not sure what the included one is made of but its hard plastic resin of some kind, anyway it sucks.
Again only 2 minor complaints which were easily made up for, considering the price I paid & best of all, the sound this system produces! The sound produced is very deep & for a lack of a better term, thumps. What I like best about the sound, is that it does NOT have that stupid excessively loud cracking sound (like an old glasspack) it's instead very mello/deep.
I have had so many different brands of boxed systems over the years & I must say this is the best sounding system I've had on a gas engine. Incredible v8 sound that's quiet while idling, then absolutely comes to life the instant the throttle is touched & best of all, NO Drone while crusing, just as your guy promised me.
Thanks for making an incredible system at a realistic price !!
easy to install me and son put on in 2 hours . great sound not to loud clamps could be better but ok would recommend to anyone
The magic is the sound, nice rumble at idle, aggressive (but not too loud) under acceleration yet quiet at cruise! The other magic is the fit and finish at such a great price! It arrived quickly and was packaged very well, it installed easily and looks great! The exhaust tips are very high quality and look amazing, I went with the dual side exit...... I have received many compliments already! You don't need a hoist to remove the old system and install the Legato system, a floor jack and a couple jack stands is sufficient. 2010 Ford F-150 5.4L Couldn't be happier! Get one and enjoy the look and sound!
Great sounding exhaust and great price. The install we had to trim a bit more off the inlet pipe than instructions noted. Also welded fittings at muffler, they leaked bad at first using just clamps.
Purchased this system for my 2013 F150 and it is fantastic. Had a single out with Flowmaster 40 which sounded great as well but there was way too much drone in the cab. The install was easy, just lay out the parts and go for it. Had mine done by a muffler shop, as I do not have a lift. Recommend this to anyone wanting awesome sound and no drone.
Great product, fit well together. Instructions could use some tweaking as they were inaccurate on the length of pipe needing cut right before the muffler, but anyone knowing there truck will figure it out. The sound is awesome, even at full speed you can easily hold a regular conversation without raising your voice. Definitely worth it!
This is a great sounding exhaust. Low rumble very similar to Magnaflow at half the cost, and you get to keep your spare tire. When I first started my truck with the new exhaust I thought it was going to be to loud. But as the truck warmed up and the idle dropped the sweet low rumble came through, big smile on my face. I will say that on hard acceleration this exhaust is loud, but not overly loud. At idle, easy acceleration and highway cruising this thing is smooth with "zero" drone, very important to me. You can hear the exhaust in the cab (something I want) but it's not overpowering which is good.
As for the install I did not go the DIY route. I had my Ford dealer do the install and the cost was less than quoted. My guy at the dealership said it was the easiest aftermarket exhaust he has done.
Thanks again to my new friends at Legato Performance.
P.S.
I'm going to have to get a Legato for my 2015 Dodge Challenger.
Quick and easy installation, only took about an hour. Wonderful sounds from start up to high speed. Just the right amount of aggressiveness. Will recommend to everyone. Good job guys.
recieved my legato exhaust 2 days ago. Im waiting for a nice warm dry day to install. so far im happy with it. It came double boxed with parts in thick sealed plastic bags and tips and muffler in their own box and wrapped in plastic.Caps on end of pipes all in place. its a nice idea to have those. The tips are simply amazing when you get to see them in your hands. They look worth the price i paid alone. All parts look top notch. I will write another review after install.2012 ford f150 supercab 5.0
Had a flowmaster on my Ford F-150 before, and the sound inside was kinda annoying. With this new Legato cat back, I can still hear in the vehicle and it sounds great. Very Happy and the install went great, no surprises.
it had a very easy fit. also looks and sounds how i hoped, but the muffler is the weak point. it had a or (has) some part of the inside loss or moves? and has made a buzz like nose at medium to full throttle. i know it's not hitting anywhere because the fit up is so nice and when a friend lessened it was inside the muffler. all in all i love it and have a few co-worker looking to buy one.
No complaints had to spot weld it all the clamps wouldn't hold it
The install was not bad about 2 hours with me doing it alone on my back with jack stands only. The sound is much better than f150 2012 5.0 has. I can't tell if I had any power increase as it was pretty quick beforehand
It SOUNDS GREAT just the way I like it. Great product and I expect it to sound better over time once it is "seasoned". Thank you very much. Nick
First of all shipping was fast and the packaging of each component protecting all the parts was fantastic! I did the dual straight out the back for my pickup.
Install was easy and the fitment was also very good. This system sounds great and just what I was looking for. Not loud in the cab at all when you get on it and a low quiet rumble at idle. Yes you can hear the radio!!
From the exterior still has a quiet rumble at idle and the sound of a Coyote Mustang when you get on it!
LEGATO has a great product and at a very far price!. My friends were very impressed!!
Install went very well, awesome product excellent fit. I am really pleased with the exhaust system. Great sound, exactly what I was looking for. You have earned a new life long customer, thank you, your customer service is awesome as well. I will tell my friends about your company.
